The Louisiana Bar Foundation (LBF) offers the Kids’ Chance Scholarship annually for covering $500 to $3,000 in college tuition and fees. It’s intended for legal dependents of Louisianans who were killed or catastrophically injured in work-related accidents. Financially needy applicants can apply until February 20th. Please attach tax returns, P&T disability reports, a birth certificate, school transcripts, and two recommendation letters.

- Maintain a minimum “C” average at accredited in-state schools
- Apply for available state and federal financial aid
Worth $300 to $3,000, the Louisiana Go Grant is a need-based program managed by the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Aid (LOSFA). Graduating high school seniors and current undergraduates could qualify based on their low to moderate Estimated Family Contribution (EFC). Priority is given to transfer and re-entering adults who are 25 or older. Go Grants are renewable for up to $10,000 if acceptable academic progress is made.

Annually, the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants (LCPA) in Kenner offers at least six scholarships for $500 to $2,000 for student members. Nine geographic regions, such as the New Orleans Chapter, Shreveport Chapter, and Baton Rouge Chapter, also provide $1,000 awards. Aspiring accountants can apply before November 15th with an unofficial transcript, two recommendations, and a personal goals essay.

- Possess a minimum GPA of 3.0 in accounting courses
- Intend to take the CPA Uniform Exam for state licensing
At Tulane University in New Orleans, the Valedictorian Scholarship is a prestigious prize awarding $5,000 annually for four years (or five years for Architecture majors). It’s designed for incoming freshmen who completed a secondary diploma at the top of their class. Louisiana guidance counselors automatically nominate their school’s valedictorian. Tulane undergrads could also receive the Dean’s Honor Scholarship and Legislative Scholarship.
Eligibility:
- Have graduated from a Louisiana public or private high school
- Maintain continuous enrollment in Tulane’s undergraduate division
- Take 12+ semester hours per semester for satisfactory progress
- Achieve a cumulative grade point average above 3.0
Since 2007, the Baton Rouge Area Foundation (BRAF) has managed the Stephen W. Cavanaugh Scholarship Fund to honor the late CEO of the Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Corporation. Recipients receive $1,000 each semester over four years for $8,000 total. Until May 31st, interested students can apply by sending a transcript, ACT/SAT score, resume, and recommendation. Other funds include the Paul F. Brown Scholarship and Three Cs’ Scholarship.
